Clinique Laser Focus Eye Cream.

For the longest time I never bothered with eye creams, I would apply my moisturiser and be done with my skincare for the day, but in the last couple of years I have been way more religious about applying it morning and evening. We all know that the skin around the eyes is thin and usually one of the first places you will start getting wrinkles.

I've been using this eye cream for over a month now... Meet the Clinique repairwear laser focus wrinkle correcting eye cream* (Wheeew!) this is a hydrating eye cream that is said to improve the natural elastin, to visibly reduce wrinkles and lines, repair UV damage and improve the texture.

This cream has a rich texture that I thought may feel greasy, but it blends into the skin so nicely without leaving a residue, you only need a small amount of product too. I like that it feels slightly soothing when I apply it too, and it really leaves my under eyes so silky feeling.

I can't comment about wrinkle fighting, as I don't really have any, but this eye cream certainly de-puffs the eyes and soothes, hydrating the sensitive under eye skin, with regular use I can say that I've noticed my under eyes look much brighter and the skin feels smoother.

This is one of my first experiences with Clinique Skincare, and I am happy to report that it was a positive one. I'm definitely looking to try some of their other skincare products now.

You can see more about the laser focus eye cream here, or at your local Clinique counter.

Elemis Winter Skincare Secrets Set.

Elemis Winter Skincare Secrets Collection. This six-piece anti-ageing set showcases the brand new moisturising and soothing Evening Blooms Dry Body Oil, award-winning Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, bestselling Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser and more, all beautifully presented in a navy blue cosmetics bag. Treat yourself or a friend to the perfect pampering beauty gift from Elemis.

For the past few weeks I having been using these gorgeous Elemis products from the 6 piece Winter Skincare Set*. This is my first time trying anything from the brand, even though I have only heard good thinks about their products before, especially the skincare.

This contains three skincare products and three for the body and they come packaged inside a lovely dark purple satin cosmetics bag, which is a great size to use as a travel makeup bag.

I’ll start with the skincare first.

The Pro Radiance Cream Cleanser was so nice to use, it reminded me a lot of the famous cleanse and polish from Liz Earle (which I love), as the name suggests this is very rich and creamy and it blends nicely into the skin, melting away grime and makeup. It left my skin feeling so fresh, smooth and clean.

The Gentle Rose Exfoliator smells great; it has a subtle scent and very tiny exfoliating jojoba beads in, to remove dead skin from the face. It is gel based, which I actually prefer to cream Exfoliator for the face. This didn’t bother my skin at all, it left it feeling soft and plump and looking healthy.

The Pro Collagen Marine Cream is said to be one of the brands top selling face creams and I was really excited to try this, I am always on the lookout for a moisturiser that I’ll love. This has a nice texture and sinks into the skin quickly, it has a light scent to it, but it’s non offensive or irritating. I like it for night times where it can really do its anti-aging thing over night. I wake up with a smooth, fresh face.

Onto the body products.

These were all a delight to use and have a lovely herbal/natural scent to them that is very relaxing.

The Shower Cream lathers well and feels so nourishing on the skin, I love how the scent lingers afterwards too.

The Body Oil is gorgeous! Perfect for winter time and using to keep yourself smooth, this is totally non greasy and just makes everywhere feel so soft and hydrated! It is quite addicting to use, it feels so lovely.

The Relaxing Bath Elixr fills the bathroom with a delightful scent. I let my boyfriend use this, as I’m a shower girl, and he spends hours in the bath. He really does like it, a small amount created lots of bubbles that lasted for a good while. He said it left him feeling clean (haha!) and smelling good and he would happily use it again.

This set and others like it are available on the QVC website.

Givenchy, Nails of the Day. Pourpre Defile.

I love deep, dark, vampy nail colours and this one from the new Givenchy collection is the perfect shade. Pourpre Defile (08) would suit anyone and I think anyone would love it, it's very dark and almost looks black in some lights, but it has such a deep berry tone to it, which I love.

Shades like this look classy and match everything you wear. The Givenchy polishes may be expensive, but they live up to their price, they are a dream to apply, have a lovely applicator, they last on the nails and are very pigmented and opaque. This was two thin coats, but you would get away with one thick coat, and it lasted without 4 days! (which is when I removed it for a change, it was still intact.)

I like lots!

Casino Inspired Nail Challenge.

I was recently set a mini challenge to do some casino inspired nails and I couldn’t resist. Ladbrokes are currently promoting their new Casino Games and I do love the whole ‘bright lights of Vegas thing, and painting my nails, so I thought this would be really fun!.

I think I’ve spoken about Konad before, but if not they do nail stamping kits that you can print onto your nails really easily… I hadn’t tried it in a while and I forgot how easy it was, but it was super fun.

After some experimentation with the Casino nail plate (M48) I did a different design on each nail and I think they look so fun.. I have had so many comments from people asking how I did such intricate designs too. (Thank you Konad!)

So after some hand pampering with the soap and glory products.. (Review on that set soon) The Endless glove is an amazing hand mask, and hand food just smells divine, I got to painting my nails…
So there is my Casino inspired NOTD! I wanted to make use of the other colours but realised my base shade was a little dark, so I went with the white so that it really stood out (I did try a little red cherry on my little finger), and I thought I would add some glitter, because who doesn’t love glitz? Plus it’s very Vegas-y! I'm not the bestest at nails, but I think they look fun and would be great for a night out and with other colours.

If you’re interested, you can see more on the new Ladbrokes range of Casino Games on the Casino page and the Games page. (If you're a gambler, please be responsible, and 18 or over.)

PaperSelf Eyelashes. Deer and Butterfly.

I love false eyelashes, I do. I just love how they can give an instant glamorous look to any makeup look. Recently I’ve been hearing about paper lashes and was curious of what they would be like to use.

Paper lashes you say? … Yep, these lashes from PaperSelf aren’t your standard full on glamour lash, they are made out of paper and are cut into cute intricate designs. They are so pretty!
I have the Deer and Butterfly small lashes* from Eyesbright I was hesitant to even use them, they just look so small and delicate in the box, I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to stick paper eyelashes on either. I’m the kind of girl that likes a nice flexible lash band.

My pack came with four small lashes, I think the idea is to apply them in two parts to the lash line (which is always easier), but I liked just using the one small lash on the outer corner.

I can report that these look really cute when they are on the eyes. I apologise for no image of them on yet (it is coming!), I did wear them last weekend and I took a pic on my phone but it corrupted and I can’t use it, but rest assured, I will have a makeup look with these lashes on soon and you can see them in all their glory.

They were fairly easy to apply; I used tweezers to carefully place them on the eye. They are very delicate though, especially when you remove them! I mean, they are paper and are stuck to the eye with glue! So peeling them off was a bit of a task, and obviously you can’t use any water or makeup remover because they need to stay dry.

I’d say that these are perfect for special occasions and for a unique look, but treat them with care if you want to re-wear them.
