#FacemaskFriday! REN Glycolactic Mask.

I love to pamper myself with a lovely facemask once every week (if not more).. I feel it just gives me a little boost and my skin a treat!

I've recently been trying out the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask*, bit of a mouthful! I've heard and read many things about this mask, so I was very excited to try it out for myself.

What REN say:
A potent bio active peel mask designed to renew the complexion, reduce the appearance of fine lines and dramatically improve skin tone.

My Thoughts:
This mask actually promises a hell of a lot of things, so many that I was unsure it was possible. Could it really be as amazing as the reviews all said it was? Answer: Big fat yes! This mask is seriously good! I've never used anything that was so instantly good! After one use my skin looked better, after continued use, my skin feels great.

This mask has a very sticky consistency, which I personally  hate the feeling of on my skin (but it's totally worth it!) .. You apply it, wait ten minutes and then remove with a muslin cloth (included). It leaves my skin looking like.. well, like it's not my skin! It looks renewed, fresh, hydrated, dewy and feels amazingly smooth with reduced pores. Sounds like a miracle in a bottle, huh? I say it is! The pore minimisation doesn't stick around too long, but the other effects last pretty well and with continued use the skin improves more.

I would most definitely recommend that everyone try this mask out. It is fairly pricey, but for a once a week use, it'll last a while and is so worth it. I wouldn't want to be without it now I've tried it.

Makeup Brushes: Real Techniques Core Collection.

Makeup Brushes... They are most definitely one of my biggest obsessions when it comes to buying beauty products, there is nothing quite like trying new brushes out, I love it.

I wanted to try these brushes from Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman (I love Pixiwoo!) for absolutely ages, but I never got around to it and I wasn't sure which ones I'd like to try. Ideally, I'd love to try them all out now that I know how these perform.

So anyway, I went for the Core Collection from Boots, a set especiallly for creating the perfect canvas - the flawless face. I had heard rave after rave about the buffing brush and I wanted in on that action! These haven't disappointed, I actually love all of the brushes and have used them all, the packaging and style is lovely, they are really soft synthetic bristles, and after multiple washes they have not shed or lost shape.

My Thoughts:

- Contour Brush
I was very excited for this brush, I usually use the MAC 168 for contour, but I loved the tapered edge of this. It works really well for a concentrated amount of contour product, but I find it quite dense in comparison to the 164, which is fluffy and blends the product too. I had to work a little more to blend with this, but it does do the job. It is really great for applying cream blusher and highlighting products too though, and I still reach for my 168 for contouring.

- Pointed Foundation Brush
This brush is very small for a foundation brush and I wasn't sure I'd love it too much, but I tried it out and found that it had a couple of uses for me. Firstly, it's really nice for blending in concealer underneath the eyes, the pointed edge means that it fits nicely into smaller spaces. I also like this brush for adding cream highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones.

- Detailer Brush
Like the foundation brush, I was unsure about this, it just seemed so small, but it is wonderful for spot concealing, even the tiniest of blemishes. I also really love it for the lips and I have been known to use it on the eyes, it works great for smudging the lower lashline.

- Buffing Brush
The star of the show, and they are a ll good brushes. This is so dense and soft (did I mention that they are all super soft? They are!) and it works so nicely at blending and buffing product all over the face, I've used it for liquid, cream and powder foundation and it works like a charm every time, leaving a nice flawless looking face. I love it!

What are your thoughts on the Real Techniques brushes? Any suggestions of what to try next?

Loving! ... Time Bomb Skincare.

Today I really want to talk about some lovely products that I’ve been loving from Time Bomb Skincare Range* lately, I actually tried their youth juice a while back and love it, so I was very excited to try some of their other offerings.

I absolutely adore the packaging of all of these products, I like that it looks simple and yet classy. It’s definitely a higher end skin care line, but it’s still affordable and definitely worth it in my opinion.

I have to be honest, serum isn’t ever a product that I use religiously, sometimes I don’t have time or I simply just forget to use it. I’ve been using this one every single morning before my day moisturiser though, and I really feel like it makes a difference, it leaves my skin feeling a lot smoother and looking fresh and ready for makeup. It feels very hydrating and gives my skin a healthy look. It’s a nice thin consistency that sinks in within thirty to forty seconds, and then you can move on to the rest of your skincare and makeup.

I remember getting a small sample of this in a Glossybox ages ago and using up the whole tube really quickly! I don’t always use a separate night cream to day cream because it just seems simpler to use the same moisturiser. This cream is so nice though, more rich and intense than a day cream, and it is full of anti ageing ingredients to work on your skin while you sleep. I wake up with nice a fresh face in the morning when I use this cream, I’m not kidding, my skin still feels hydrated, it is smooth and it doesn’t look dull. I actually wake up with skin that looks awake! I love, love, love this!

This has to be one of the standout products for me and I love them all. This is a totally amazing exfoliating treatment that removes dull, lifeless dead skin cells from your face and leaves everything much brighter ad smooth, it doesn’t try my skin out at all either, which some exfoliators can. This has the finest magnesium oxide crystals in it (which the professionals use!) and it lifts away all dull and dead skin, revealing a fresher, glowy face beneath! I find the effects so addicting that I could literally use it every day... Not that I would need to and I don’t think it would be wise to over-exfoliate, so I use it every other day instead!

All in all I love everything I have tried from this range. The products are such great quality products that don’t irritate my skin; they give a fresh, gorgeous, youthful, hydrated skin, and that’s all we want, right ladies?! They also sell smaller sizes in them all, so you can give them a try without purchasing a full size - love that!

Keeping it Simple.

So…I have pretty bad skin most of the time. Ever since my teens I have suffered from acne, and it never went away when I got out of my teens. It’s horrible and I would love to have perfect skin that I didn’t feel like I need to cover up all of the time.

In recent years I’ve been looking after it much more, using products that are supposed to combat bad skin, and also my Clarisonic, which has helped greatly! However, towards the end of last year and earlier this year, my skin was at the worst it had been for a long time, I have no idea what caused it – but it really, really got me down.

I made a decision then that I was going to simplify things in my skincare for a while, treating it as sensitive (which it isn’t really) and also trying to use more natural products so that I know what’s going onto my skin.

For the past month I’ve actually been using some basics that I haven’t used since I was a teenager, from the Simple Skincare* line. Their products are great for sensitive skin and do not contain perfumes and colours.

Their purifying cleansing lotion is a lovely rich consistency then turns lotion like when massaged onto the skin, it melts away my makeup without any hassle, even removing my eye makeup and not irritating my eyes.

The soothing toner is exactly that! It feels so cool and soothing to the skin; it removes any extra grime that might be on your face and it leaves it feeling refreshed. The best thing is that it’s not drying at all; it actually leaves my skin feeling smooth and hydrated with no tightness or discomfort.

I was intrigued by the exfoliating wipes, I normally use an actual Exfoliator, but these were really nice to use, and very gentle on my skin, they are great for travel and for freshening up. They left my skin feeling smooth and they don’t leave any residue behind. For me personally, I still like to use my usual Exfoliator twice a week, but these are perfect for in-between days.

The last product I’d like to mention is a surprise actually. I’ve tried roll on for the under eye before and never felt much of a difference, but the revitalising rollon from Simple feels so soothing under the eyes, it’s the perfect pick me up for tired eyes. It doesn’t feel sticky and you can feel the cooling soothing feeling for a few minutes after application. This is a must for the morning!

Overall I’ve really enjoyed using these products and treating my skin with more simple products that won’t irritate my skin. I’d definitely recommend them if you are looking to try something new. The whole range is so affordable too, which is always good!

Simple Skincare is on 3 for 2 in Boots at the moment. Link!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash.

For the past couple of months I've been trying out this new cleanser from The Body Shop, and it's most definitely worth a mention. I've tried the whole tea tree range from there before and I really like the products, so I was excited to try this. I love that it has the word 'cool' in it. When you have acne prone skin, products that feel cool on the skin feel so soothing on the skin.

What They Say:
Our new creamy wash is tough on blemish-causing bacteria but soft on skin. Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash* intensely cleanses and purifies, instantly removing all impurities and excess oils, without over-drying. From the very first use, skin looks fresher and feels softer.

My Thoughts:
I love it so much. It does leave my skin soft after use, it feels so soothing and so refreshing when you rinse it off, the skin feels icy cool - it's perfect for waking you up in the morning and great in this hotter weather we're currently having!

It's helped clear my skin up well too... Mine has been a bit of a nightmare lately, but with it's antibacterial properties, I have really noticed a difference with this. It's really creamy and creates a nice lather with my Clarisonic. If you have spot prone skin and want a soothing cleanser to help combat them, try this out. The best thing, it's only £5 too.

(I can't find it on their website, but try in store.)
