Beauty Look Book: Vampy Halloween | Melovemakeup.

Happy Halloween!

Here is a FOTD I did at the weekend. I was feeling a major urge to do something halloween-y and I really wanted to wear some black lipstick, or something very dark and vampy. I'm not sure what to call this look.. I guess it would be a great vampy look if you had a costume and some fangs and some contact lenses.. I do have some twilight ones, I should have tried them with this.

Anyway, I did it at the weekend because I'm going out today to do normal stuff and this might be slightly over the top for that. Sadly I have no Halloween arrangements, but I wish I did! It's been years since I dressed up and went out for Halloween. Maybe next year!

Onto the look.. Lots of red and black on the eyes, very smudgy and smokey with outer corner lashes on the upper and lower lashlines. Then black eyeliner to line the lips, filled in with a deep plum/red shade. I only wish I had gone darker on the brows.. My normal brows were too light for this look! You live and learn.

Look Beauty Review: Look Good... Feel Better.

LOOK Beauty are just another of the brands that are donating proceeds from sales of certain products to Cancer charities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this October. This is a collection of pink products that I've been playing with recently. Fifty pence from the sale of each of these products will be donated to a cancer charity so you can buy some pretty products and help a great charity. What could be better than that?

- Nail Pop (Corsage)* £5:00. A gorgeous bright popping hot pink shade.

- Make Me Blush (Pinch)* £8:00. One of my faves. I have a blusher obsession at the moment and this is a perfect dusky pink. It's pigmented, blends well and the subtle shimmer (not glitter) gives a nice glow.

- Statement Eyes Eyeshadow (Satin)* £2:00 (Usually £4!).  This surprised me, it's such good quality for the price, comparable to some Urban Decay Shadows that I own. It's smooth, sooo soft and blendable and a gorgeous pink/lavendar shade.

- Lip Liner (Rock Candy)* £4:00. I love this lip liner, it's huge, it's a bright hot pink shade and it really creamy.

- Loud Lips (Rock Candy)* £7:00. The sister to the lip liner, this is lovely. Super pigmented and hydrating. Great for a loud lipped look!

Vita Liberata: pHenomenal Tanning Mousse.

I'm far from a tanning expert but I do love to experiment with it every so often.. I'm not very confident with it though, I always get scared after I apply it that I'm going to end up a streaky mess of patchy tan.

I tried the Vita Liberata Phenomenal Tan* on my sister back when it was a little bit sunnier (not a lot!) and I found it really simple to use. It's a mousse that blends in so nicely and dried pretty much instantly giving an instant glow. It's buildable and I used two coats on my sister over a few days before she went on holiday. She has a gorgeous, natural looking golden tan that lasted well, wasn't streaky (yay me!) and faded evenly.

I used a mitt to apply it after she had exfoliated and she looked really golden and brown. Here is her arm in comparison to my pastiness!

The tan lasted well (the two coats lasted for about 10 days total) and faded without looking patchy, it also didn't stink like biscuits the next day (major plus!)

It's quite a pricey tan (link!), but the fact that it's buildable and lasts so long definitely makes it worth it.

MesmerEyez Contact Lenses.

There are the perfect addition to any Halloween costumes, or just to amp up a makeup look and give you a freaky look. Mesmereyez website (link!) has a whole huge range from coloured lenses to the scariest freaky looking ones.

Above, I am wearing the *Luna Lens (the blue) which could be awesome for a scary looking doll costume or anything that requires your eyes to look freaky really! They are available for 1 month, 3 months and 1 year and the prices are super reasonable too.

The *Green Werewolf Lens just scream Halloween and are great for a wolf, vampire, witch.. Whatever you fancy that's scary. I like these so much, I love the inner yellow ring around them, it's so eye catching. These are available with the same options and the prices are great.

They can be a little difficult to get in when you're a beginner (I'm still learning, hence the red eyes) but once you get the hang of it it does get easier. Make sure to follow the instructions and use a proper solution and care to store them.

Review: Limited Edition Cherry Blossom GHD.

As I am sure you are all aware by now October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I did do a post mentioning it a while back about some makeup brushes that donated some of the money from sales to the charity. Well, so many brands have special products that they sell and are donating a portion of the proceeds to the charity, which I am sure you will agree, is so great!

These Limited Edition Cherry Blossom GHD Straighteners* are just one of the many products that are available to purchase, they donate £10 from every one sold to the charity, and have raised over £6 million for them in the last nine years. Amazing huh?

I have absolutely loved using these straighteners recently; especially since I ombred my hair because I think it shows up way better when I have straightened hair, so these are great for that. I did have a pair of GHD’s when I was a teenager and I can remember saving up for months to get them, they were about £99 or so and I loved them and loved them. My sister somehow managed to nab them though, and is still using them now (about ten years later!).

Beauty Look Book: Shimmer Blues | Melovemakeup.

This weekend I decided it was time to pull out one of my many neglected Urban Decay Palettes. I decided I would use the Book of Shadows (possibly the first ever one?) that I got in a blog sale ageees ago. Urban Decay are some of my most favourite eyeshadows ever.

Halloween Themed Products! :)

I love Halloween and getting all crazy dressed up and going to parties, etc! Here are a few Halloween themed beauty products that I've been enjoying. :)

Eye Candy London Cracklin Rose.* This is a pink-red-green-ish duochrome crackle effect polish. It's very eye catching but it only visible layered over a darker polish for me. I will have a nail post for it soon! I kind of wish it was a solid colour though, and not crackle. I need to try some more from Eye Candy because I've been browsing and they have some amazing looking shades. (Available from Sainsbury's, Tesco and Amazon)

Flick Tips!* As seen on Dragons Den (I love that show!) There are a wonderful creation and idea for those who just can't ever get the perfect winged liner look. I'm not bad, but there are some unusual flicky patterns in here that I would never create by hand. I'll post a look with these soon. Available here!

MyChelle Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser.* This is a hydrating cleanser, which is great for dry skin. It is cruelty and gluten free and it smells amazing! This just smells warm and inviting and festive. It leaves my skin feeling really polished and smooth to touch. It is rich in antioxidants and minerals, so it is packed with goodness for the skin.

Nailene Nails - Red.* Love these! They are perfect for the glossiest, most red, glam manicure, without the bother of creating it for yourself! I don't wear falsies too often, but these will look great for a red devil or cat at Halloween. They are so shiny! Nailene nails are available from Boots and Superdrug.

Lipstick Love: Burberry Lip Velvet.

Just look at them a little longer... *lustful look* .. are they not the most beautiful lipsticks you ever did see?

It's love! I've had these Burberry Lip Velvet Lipsticks* for about two weeks now and I have been admiring them constantly.. as well as wearing them of course!

These are part of the Autumn/Winter collection and they are matte velvet finish. Here's some official blurb:

Now, I totally dig the matte lip look, more than any other, but everyone knows that they can be the hardest to wear unless you have the most perfect lips, because they show every flaw.  These don't, they glide on smoothly, they feel like they are not there and they last.. and last! They are gel based, weightless and water resistant.

I love them, so much! They are some of the highest qualty lippies that I own, they are super duper pigmented and they do feel hydrating, that is not something you normally get with a matte lipstick unless you layer a gloss on top, but that just takes away from the flawless matte look. They do last too, I wore military red on a night out recently and it lasted for five whole hours before I had to touch it up. *Dreamy sigh*

The packaging speaks for itself.. It's classy, sturdy, has the beautiful classic print, as does the lipstick bullet and they have a little magnet which makes sure that lid isn't going anywhere.

Pink Apricot: This doesn't seem pink toned at all to me, it's a peachy nude shade. Great with a smoky eye look.

Military Red: Just.. wow! This is the perfect *bam* in your face bright festive beautiful red shade. It is so classic and eye catching. I love it more than any other red I own.

Review: Liz Earle Botanical Essence No15.

The new fragrance from Liz Earle is a gorgeous one. I was sent a small sample along with some Cleanse & Polish before the actual perfume came out and I was really taken with how it smelt. I like their original fragrance but this was more me and I couldn't wait to hear more about it.

A couple of weeks later I got this in the post. The Liz Earle Botanical Essence No15*.

Now, I can't claim to be an expert on perfumes and notes and the like, but I can tell you that this is a really gorgeous, sexy  scent, it smells grown up, it smells warm and musky and is very perfect for autumn and winter.

It is quite a strong fragrance but it's not overpowering at all and, you don't need much of it to smell great for the whole day/night.. The scent lasts and lasts on me for the whole day and I love catching a whiff of it on myself when I wear it.

This is defnitely going to be my perfume of choice for the colder months, it smells so good and makes me feel so warm and cosy.

How-to Ombre: L'Oreal Wild Ombres Kit Review.

You may remember this post from a while back, when I ombred my hair with the hair stripper from Scott Cornwall. I was really happy with the subtle result because it was a major step for me to be dying my hair when I had spent so long getting my natural colour back. I really loved the subtle effect that wasn't too in your face.

As time went on though, I got compliments on how it looked and I really loved it myself, so much that I wanted to br braver and go further with it. Enter the L'Oreal Preference Wild Ombres Dip Dye Hair Kit*. 

Last weekend I had a free evening and decided I was going to go for it!

I wasn't sure what to expect and I was a bit worried because this is essentially bleach which I knew would lighten quite a bit. The results came out great though and I am super happy. The kit comes in three different shade ranges for different hair colours, I used No 1, for light to dark brown hair.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Japonesque PINK Touch Up Tube.

As I am sure most of you are aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and with lots of brands selling pink things and donating money to the charity, I wanted to show you a cute little brush set. The Japonesque Touch Up Tube* in Pink! 5 brushes with a cute metallic pink tube container to store them in. Ideal for travel!

So let's see what we have..

01 * Small Eye Detailer

Okay, so let's break this down.

Brush 01 is a great little brush to have, it's soft, dense and is perfect for smudging along the upper and lower lashline, or for smaller detail work. I love it.

Brush 02 is a great all over shadow shader brush, it's soft and dense like the smaller version and is just great for packing on colour.

Okay, brush 03.. Foundation? Erm, I don't think so, it would take me forever to blend a facefull of foundation with this. I think this is more a synthetic concealer brush, and it's a good one, the bristles are sturdy but not too hard and it works great for eyeshadow bases aswell as concealer.

Brush 04 is a great lip brush, the bristles are the same as the 'foundation' brush, just a smaller version. It also works as a smaller detailer concealer brush.

Finally, brush 05. The was the most disappointing of them all. The bristles are coarse and scratchy and they shed a bit too much for my liking. This isn't a brush I think I would use, except maybe if I was travelling.

So there you have it. They are all handy and perfect for travelling and I am glad to have them in my collection.. Only one slight miss with the blush brush, but I can forgive that, I have tons of face brushes anyway. They are all great quality brushes that feel sturdy and they wash up well. I love the contrast of the black and bright pink colours too.

Liz Earle: 'Heather' Signature Lip Colour.

Today I wanted to talk about another product from the Liz Earle Colour Collection, the Signature Lip Colour*. These lipsticks are pretty new releases and I have had this for a few weeks now.

To be honest, when I first opened it I cringed a bit, it isn't a shade I would ever have chosen for myself. The name of it, even how it looked in the bullet just wasn't very me. How wrong I was though, I swatched it on my lips and was impressed with how smoothly it glided on and pleased with the sheer glossy finish it gives.

It is described as a rich plum shade and it is kind of plummy, but I think it looks more pink after just one coat and is almost a my lips but better shade (and glossier!) .. It is buildable though and the colour becomes more intense with extra layers.

The packaging is lovely and I like the added touch of the logo embossed on the bullet (now shown).. It feels really smooth and hydrating on the lips.
