♥ I Love Hauling!

Hey lovelies! I recently had a little bit of retail therapy. I had some leftover Christmas money, and wanted to have a browse around town, So here is a little haul post of what I picked up!

♥ Cosmopolitan Beauty Blender 'Dupe' Sponge : I have wanted this ever since I saw it recently on a you tube video (can't remember who's!) I have wanted a Beauty Blender for ages, but have heard that this is as good, if not better - and it is only £4.95! Bargain :)
♥ Garnier Pure Active Moisturiser : I lovvee this! It's one of my faves, and I would repurchase it over and over. It's cooling, soothing, moisturises well and combats spots too!
♥ Nails Inc Polish, Caramel : I got this free with two bottles of yummy Diet Coke. This is the only colour they had left! I don't have a nude, so am looking forward to trying this out.
♥ Accessorize Illusion Polish, Aztec : I've wanted this since it came out, It's a stunning multi shimmer duochrome shade, comparable to one of MAC's limited edition shades. It's stunning! I put it on as soon as I got home and I cannot stop looking at my fingers!
♥ MAC Club Eyeshadow : OMG, this is awesomeness! I've wanted it for a while, and it lives up to all I expected. It's a beautiful duochrome (brown/green) and just looks so good on the eyes. I am wearing it now, alone, and it looks like I made such an effort to do a green/brown crease look. LOVE! ♥
♥ Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, Translucent : I've read numerous positive reviews on this recently, So I thought I would jump on the bandwagon! So far so good. It seems to be keeping my oily skin matte.
♥ The XL Gosh Shader : This is a really nice big fluffy dense brush. I have wanted a MAC 227 for ages, but it's an expensive brush, so I picked this up for £7.99 to see how it lives up. I am liking it so far!

These are just a few bits I picked up in The Body Shop sale. The palette is gorgeous, and the shades are so soft and pigmented. The single shadows were supercheap, and I couldn't resist trying a few. As for the Shimmer cubes - I reviewed them on here recently as I bought them the other week. I just thought I would show it all in this haul too.

♥ True Blood Season 1 and 2 box set! (Did I mention that I LOVE true blood?) .. I ordered this online and cannot wait to start watching them all again!
♥ The earrings were so cheap at £3 (down from £10) and I thought they looks cute and summery!
The Balms Bahama Mama, and Hot Mama, I got these in TK Maxx for £5.99 each (RRP £19) .. They are lovely! The bronzer is matte and perfect for contour, and Hot Mama is like a peachy golden rosy pink! I love it very muchly!

Lastly, Urban Decay Liquid Liner in GASH (what a name!) This was £4.99 (RRP £11.95) from TK Maxx again, I love it, it's such a stunning shade. The mascara is the new Boots mascara, which I am loving. I won this in a facebook giveaway but wanted to pop it in here.

... And that is it! What do you think? f you want to see more on anything, let me know!

» Models Own Nail Polishes.

Here are two of the new shades from Models Own. Prussian Blue and Garnet. Both are bright eye catching colours, and really nice opaque finishes within two coats. The staying power is good with them too, even without a base/top coat (I'm always lazy with that!) ..

Prussian Blue is a matte finish, which needed two coats. It's gorgeously bright, like a royal blue and it dries super fast, like most matte shades too. I love it, and can't wait to experiment with it, with GOSH Rainbow and Barry M Nail Effects over the top.

Garnet is a lovely bright red colour, very sophisticated and kind of festive. It's opaque in two coats and dries reasonably quick. Both lasted well and I love the applicator brush on both polishes. I am new to Models Own, but quite impressed overall with the quality, pigmentation and lasting power!

Excuse the sloppy application, I painted them just so you could get an idea of the colours. I think I need some of them nail swatch wheel things so I can take really good pics!

Anyway, what do you think of the colours? I like both of them, but Prussian Blue takes the lead just a little for me! I can't wait to experiment with it, like I said.

Models Own Polishes are available from Models Own Website & Boots, for £5 each.

Accessorize Cosmetics : Nails.

Recently I got some Accessorize goodies to try out, and I wanted to talk about the nail polishes that I got.

Magical Mocha & Truffle
Magical Mocha is a brown shade that changes colour in different lights to a burgundy colour. It has a metallic finish and looks absolutely gorgeous on. I wore it out over the weekend and I could not stop looking at my nails! That's always a sign of a gorgeous colour. Truffle is just a greige-ish colour really, more on the grey side. It's a cream finish and is opaque with just one coat, which is impressive! The Mocha needed two coats. Both polishes dry in reasonable time (less that five minutes) and they last really well, I've had the mocha shade on for four days and it's only just chipping slightly.

Pretty, No? :)
I also have a Illusion polish in Gold Dust, which is just a clear polish packed with gold sparkle, and I mean packed! It looks great on top of coloured polish and one coat is enough to show lots of glitz on the nail!

See what I mean? .. They are all really nice good quality polishes, and the best part is that they are only £4 each! Bargainous, eh? They can all be purchased in Accessorize, Superdrug, or Online.

→ The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes.

Hey Lovelies! .. So when I got back from my Christmas break I was really chuffed to discover that the lovely people from The Body Shop had sent me a voucher to buy some gorgeous goodies. So I dragged my other half into town and raided The Body Shop Sale! .. I got lots of great things, including these little gems.

These are Shimmer Cubes, which I'm sure you have all heard of before. I have always admired them and wanted to try them, but could never justify paying the hefty £16 price tag that came with them. In the sale however, these two were just £5 each.. I snapped them up!

So the two that I got are 18 and 19 .. Let's have a look at 18 first :

Pearly White, Precious Pink, Green Shimmer, Silver Sparkle.
I know that my swatches are a little washed out, apologies for that - I had to use a flash as the pictures were taken in the evening. They are lovely pastel colours though, perfect for spring / summer time.

Onto number 19 :

Emerald Sea, Sea Shell, Hushed Orchid, Sparkling Sky.
This is my fave of the two, the bright colours are so eye catching and pretty! Look at that green! :)

I really love these, I have been playing with them a bit recently and they are lovely to use. The shades are all really smooth and pigmented and blend nicely. They feel like a creamy powder consistency, and they work really well for an intense look when used wet. I'm glad I didn't pay £16 though, I'm still not sure they are worth that.. I think they are worth around the £10 mark. I'd like to try some others though.

Have you tried Shimmer Cubes? What are your thoughts?
Both of these are available on the website.

♥ Models Own Kit.

I am guessing that most of you have already picked up your free models own make up kit by now? .. If you have been living under a rock and don't know what I am talking about, see this post.

I just thought I would do a little review on what I think of all of the kits contents! It's a great little kit worth £24, and you can get it for the cost of two newspapers.

So, Here is what I think ...

♥ The Tweezers : I like these! They have a good slant to them and they are quite sharp at the edge, which makes for good hair grabbing and pulling out. The pink metallic look is nice and eye catching too!

♥ The Eyelash Curlers : I'm not overly keen on these. They are just OK .. They don't get near to the root of the lash at all, therefore it kinda curls the lash from mid way, which isn't too good.

♥ The Mascara : It's very dry. It does nothing to enhance my lashes what. so. ever. It is like a black lash dye, it just makes them look darker without adding any length or volume. Bleh.

♥ The Liquid Liner : The applicator for this is a bit pants .. well a lot pants actually! It's massive and would not be easy to use directly. The formula of the liner is nice though, it's quite thick and very long lasting! I just dip my own brush into it and use it that way.

♥ The Eyeshadow Duo : Saving the best for last! This duo is really nice, the colour combo is good, the shadows are soft and pigmented and they blend nicely. We have a winner!

So, all in all it's not too bad, there are a couple of things that I probably won't use, but this is just my opinion, and some of you may like what I don't!

Have you got your Models Own Kit yet? What are your thoughts?

SKINDINÄVIA Makeup Finishers.

I was recently lucky enough to be sent a couple of products by the company SKINDINÄVIA to try out. They are a company who make makeup finishing sprays. They have been around since 2004 and they say their sole purpose is keeping our makeup in place, for 16 hours!

They gave the option of which spray I would like to try, and I went for the Cool Flash Makeup Finish (as seen in Vogue!) - The reason I chose that one in particular is because it sounds great. Perfect for hot weather, or nights out on the town where you dance lots or are in a packed nightclub.

It's Key Benefits :
  • Surface cooling technology holds temperature to avoid melting or sliding.
  • Holds and blends foundation, eye shadow, blush, and concealer.
  • Greatly extends makeup wear.
  • Helps control shine.
  • Fewer required "touchups" throughout the day.
  • Helps reduce makeup slippage into pores, lines, wrinkles, or scars.

It all sounds very promising, right? ..

My thoughts : It's a really nice fine mist that feels cooling on application and not heavy at all. It sinks it and dries quickly. My skin looks a little matte-er after use, but nothing over the top - I'm fine with it anyway, because I like matte. There is no scent to the product at all, and it doesn't irritate the eyes if you forget to close them or anything! To use this you just spritz your face 3 or 4 times and go! Make sure to shake it well before use, to mix it all up, otherwise it doesn't work so well. . .

The Results : It works! My make up lasted all day .. I mean a long day too, of travelling 300 miles or so on a train. My foundation, eyeshadow, blush were all still in place, surprisingly like I had just applied them. I don't have too much problem with eye makeup fading usually anyway, but this really did keep it like new. As for my foundation, which will normally wear off through the day (without primer) stayed on and lasted.

Cost : For a 4oz bottle, which is expected to last around 4 months, it costs $29 (about £18 or so) - I think it's worth it, after using it. It really is a must have and will be perfect for the Summer Holidays.

* * *

The other spray that you see there is a mini size - It is for my skin type, which is oily and it's just fab! It locks everything into place and mattifies my skin - keeping everything locked on and in place throughout the day/night.
  • Helps control shine and absorb excess oil.
  • Fewer required "touchups" throughout the day.
  • Helps reduce appearance of makeup smudging or creasing.
  • Helps reduce makeup slippage into pores, lines, wrinkles, or scars.
  • Save up to 50% of makeup usage.
  • Surface cooling technology holds temperature to avoid melting or sliding.

It also controls shine, so you can spritz it through the day if you notice you are getting oily again, although to be honest, I don't when I have used either of these products. The mini size is $19 and is available here, and is perfect for your handbag when you are on the go.

They sell a range of setting sprays for different skin types and needs, so definitely check out their website. I honestly thought these might be a bit gimicky when I heard of them before, but they are little must haves!

Max Factor Beauty Tools!

Did you know that Max Factor Have Beauty Tools? .. I was surprised when I found out last year, and was excited to try them. I did try a few last year, and recently have tried a few more.

I have the Eye Shadow Brush, The Foundation Brush, and The Powder Brush. All three are available to buy in boots and are reasonably priced.

So, what do I think of them? ....

The Eyeshadow Brush : This is a lovely soft brush, but it's densely packed and stiff too. It picks up a nice amount of product and blends it nicely. I do already own this brush, and I really love it, So I am glad that I own two. It's always good to have a back up!

The Foundation Brush : This has soft synthetic bristles that are quite flimsy. I like a soft flexible foundation brush, it blends easier and doesn't feel rough. This spreads and blends nicely. I like to use it for my Max Factor Weightless Foundation.

The Powder Brush : LUSH. Love this brush, It's mahoosive! It's so soft (just like their blush brush which I own) .. It's the perfect body/bronzer/all over powder brush. I've been using this regularly with my setting powder. It really is a gorgeous quality brush.

I love all of the Max Factor brushes that I have tried and I would recommend them to anybody. The are available to buy from Boots.com

Lord & Berry Lip Products.

I was recently sent a couple of Lord and Berry lip products to review. I was really excited about trying them out as I have heard lots of good things about the brand. They sell a range of beauty products, and you can see and read more information here, on their website.

I have a bit of a thing with lip products at the moment, they are my current obsession (wrongly so! I have a drawer full.) So I couldn't wait to see if I would love these.

I received a Long Lasting Lip Crayon in Orange (Cringe!) and an Intense Lipstick in Deep Nude. . Sadly, I don't really like the colour of either of them. I do not, ever, wear orange lipstick because I just look wrong. As for the nude, I love a nude lipstick, but this is a dark nude and is more brown than anything, I think I can work the nude and pale it down though.

However, I do like both lipsticks in formula and quality. The crayon is my favourite, the texture is so smooth and glossy and the colour pay off is great. The crayon pencil like packaging is real nice too, I would definitely like to get my hands on some more suitable shades.

The intense lipstick has a vanilla scent to it and is quite a rich creamy texture. It feels moisturising and has good pigmentation and lasting power on the lips. This gives more of a matte look to the lips, rather than the glossy crayon.

All in all though, I like the products, They were just not 'my' colour, sadly.
- Lord & Berry Products Can Be Purchased on ASOS.

« LUSH Review : Melting Marshmallow Moment!

Lush Says ♥

MMM melts into a pink, fluffy waterbed of marshmallow and moisturising cocoa butter. Each Melting Marshmallow Moment is made with marshmallow herb, which produces a sweet, skin-soothing mucilage and marigold, which is equally calming for your skin.

Sophie Says ♥

It looks good enough to eat, doesn't it? .. I saw a review on this somewhere else, and picked one up the next time I was in lush. It's gorgeously girly pink and it smells like yummy sweeties! All you need to do is drop it into the bath water as it is running and it melts away, leaving you with a pink, soapy, delicious smelling bath.

I really enjoyed bathing in this, It makes the water feel so luxuriously rich and soft and soapy. All that goodness going into your skin as you soak, MMM! .. The only downside for me is that it doesn't bubble, I love a bubbly bath more than anything and I'm a bubble bar girl at heart. I would use it again though. It left my skin smelling gorgeous and feeling positively smooth and nourished!

Where To Buy ♥

Lush stores, or online for £3.60.

Don't Mess With OPI NOTD.

New for Spring/Summer, this shade from The OPI Texas Collection is one of my faves that I was sent. My flash washed out the colour a bit in the above picture, but the below picture captures the shade well!

It is called 'Don't Mess With OPI' and is just the perfect spring green shade, Like fresh grass. It's bright, and fresh looking.

It is a creme formula and so smooth to apply, totally opaque within two coats and it looks lovely and eyecatching on the nails.

Don't you agree?
Excuse the untidyness. I needed to clean up.

All of the Texas Collection will be available from Lena White from Feb 2011, Priced £9.95.

→ Liz Earle Energising Body Scrub.

Liz Earle's Energising Body Scrub sounded like the perfect thing to perk me up after Christmas and a bad case of woman flu. My skin was dry and in need of some love...

Liz Earle Say : Use our invigorating, refreshingly scented body scrub to exfoliate and revitalise. Ground olive stones gently buff away dead skin cells for smoother, healthier-looking skin.
Massage onto wet skin to help improve circulation and enliven senses.
Specially selected ground olive stones gently buff away dead skin cells for healthier, smoother skin.

I Say : This stuff is a real treat. When I first smelt it I was unsure as it smells quite strongly herbal-ish, but when you use it in the shower the scent is not overpowering at all, it just awakens your senses and makes the whole bathroom smell lovely.

This wash has a slight cooling effect on the skin which is lovely. Buffing it in small circles all over will remove and dead dry skin and leave you feeling refreshed and so, so smooth. I've never used a scrub like this, my legs look different than before, my skin just looks brighter after using this.

This is just the perfect pick me up any time of the year to leave you soft, clean and freshly glowing!

Where To Purchase : Liz Earle Shops, Or online.

♥ Beauty UK Cosmetics Goodies!

Hey Lovelies! ♥

So, just before I went away to my mums for Christmas I got a message on twitter from the company Beauty UK, you know? The budget brand that they sell in Superdrug that sell the palettes similar to the Claire's palettes?

Well anyway, I had won a competition that I had entered with them, and my prize was a Christmas Goodie Bag! So I emailed them my details and went off to my Mum's. When I got back last week the package from them was waiting for me. I was super excited, because I had forgotten all about it.

I didn't know what to expect in my prize package, and I was shocked (to say the least) at how generous they were! It included palettes, lip gloss, blusher, glitter .. Well, just take a look for yourself!

My prize included the following :
♥ 4 Eye Shadow Palettes
♥ 1 Blush
♥ 2 Glitters
♥ 8 Nail Polishes
♥ 1 Lipgloss
♥ 2 Metallic Spark Pencils
♥ 1 Mascara
♥ 1 Eye Liner

Who's a lucky Sophie? .. It was like Christmas all over again!

I've never really tried much from this brand before, apart from a blusher a few years ago which was nice. I have used one of the palettes today though and the blusher and I have to say I am extremely impressed so far! The Eyeshadows are rich in pigmentation and there are some really unique colours too!

So there you go.. I want to say a big thanks to Beauty UK for my prize, I love it all. You guys should check out their site, and also the stand in your local Superdrug if you are in the UK!

If anyone wants to see something in more detail or would like a review of anything, just let me know.

*NEW* Sleek MakeUP Molten Metals.

Hey Everyone, Happy New Year!!

On New Years Eve, I was surprised when my postie popped a parcel through my letter box. I was surprised initially because I didn't know they delivered on New Years Eve, and secondly because it was an unexpected parcel.. The lovely new Molten Metals from Sleek MakeUP!

They are designed for the eyes but can be used to highlight the cheek bone, cupids bow, or anywhere else. They are a smooth creamy consistency and are very intensely pigmented. I am really happy with the quality of them actually, I kind of expected they might be greasy and crease immediately, a little like the liquid metals from Illamasqua (don't get me wrong, I love them - but they don't last long and feel quite oily) but they feel less greasy, and once blended into the skin they kind of set, not completely, but enough that they would last for a good few hours.I haven't fully put them to the test yet, I've just had a play around, but when I do wear them, I will do a FOTD post and let you know how they last with a primer on the eyes.

The packaging is study and looks nice, and there is also a small mirror inside of the lid. I'm not keen on the white font on the front casing though, but that's just my personal opinion. The product inside is quality, and to me that's the main thing.

So, inside the duo are two colours : Pewter, and Gold Leaf. They look quite similar to the naked eye, but they photograph differently, and the swatches show their differences.

Pewter                                            Gold Leaf
They are both gorgeous colours, and I really hope that sleek bring out some different combos! I love a cream eyeshadow, and they make great bases for similar colour eyeshadows for added intensity.

These are released on 5th January and will be on sale in Superdrug and online. They will be £6.99 and are to be part of the permanent Sleek MakeUP Collection!
